Success Stories

Mumphy Bhattacharya
[Working at a reputed hospital]
I came to Ashalayam in 2003 after being rescued from Howrah Railway Station by Childline. Before that, I was living with my aunt, who did not care for me, which forced me to leave. Don Bosco Ashalayam became a turning point in my life, providing me with safety, care, and opportunities for growth.
I completed my Madhyamik in 2014 and Class XII in 2016, both in first division. Later, I joined St. Augustine Medical College, Assam, for a graduate nursing course and successfully completed it in 2019. Today, I am working as a nurse in a reputed hospital. During my time at DBA, I gained not only academic knowledge but also valuable life skills, along with opportunities in sports, dance, and personal development. I will always cherish these experiences and remain deeply grateful to all the Fathers, Sisters, sponsors, and staff for helping me become an independent and responsible person.

Sonali Roy
[Persuing MSc in Hotel Management]
I began my journey with Don Bosco Ashalayam in 2005 after my mother and I were forced to leave my father’s house and lived at Howrah Railway Station. After a week, Ashalayam staff rescued us and brought me to their children’s home.
I was admitted to Mayer Asha, where I began my education and joined a local school. Along with studies, I developed my talents in dance, singing, and scouting, which strengthened me mentally and physically. After completing Class 12, I earned admission to Salesian College, Siliguri, for a B.A. in Sports Management. Through hard work and determination, I graduated as the department topper. Today, I am pursuing an M.Sc. at Dolphin School of Hotel Management, Kalyani, with full fee exemption. I am deeply grateful to the Fathers, Sisters, and supporters whose love and guidance shaped my bright future.

Abhishek's dedication to cycling is evident in the 600 km he rode to join his job at Decathlon in Patna for the opening of their first store there. His dream is to travel all over India on two wheels.

Saharul Peada
[Coach at Decathlon]
Saharul Peada, a proud representative from Don Bosco Ashalayam, had the distinguished honor of being selected as one of the torchbearers for the prestigious Paris Olympics—a momentous achievement for any athlete, and a particularly inspiring one for an Indian youth like me who overcame immense personal challenges.

Today, I serve as a dedicated decathlon coach in Guwahati, where I have the privilege of mentoring and inspiring the next generation of athletes. My journey has been anything but easy; I have navigated through troubled waters marked by hardship and uncertainty, but I was able to rise above adversity and build a meaningful life, thanks in no small part to the unwavering support and guidance I received from Don Bosco Ashalayam.

Deepak’s journey is one of courage and resilience. Born with hearing and speech challenges and separated from his family at a young age, he spent 18 years at the New Age Foundation for All. In 2023, he joined Don Bosco Ashalayam – Asha TICI for a year-long carpentry course and was later employed in Mysore. Due to document issues, he returned to West Bengal, where an unexpected miracle occurred — during a biometric check, the police located his family.
