Transform the life of slum & street children

Beacon of Hope

Don Bosco Ashalayam is an NGO that has been offering children who are either without parental care or at risk of losing it, a value chain of high-quality care services that goes beyond childcare alone and ensures wholesome child development for more than 40 years. Through its Mission Education initiative, we have so far directly steered more than 155,000 children down the road to empowerment through education.

What We Do

Education.jpeg

Residential Facilities & Education

Ashalayam is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing home for children in need, guided by its motto, “Beacon of Hope.” It supports 350 residential children across 12 hostels and 1200 children in street and slum schools. Residential children attend local government schools for mainstream education while also receiving life skills training in hygiene, health, communication, confidence, and responsibility to help them grow into independent individuals.

Health & Well-being

Regular health check-ups are conducted across all centres, with doctors, medicines, and essential care readily available. Sports and games are integral to the program, promoting healthy lifestyles, confidence, and teamwork—possibilities for international exposure to sports and games, especially with the support of Decathlon.

Livelihood & Skills Development

Career counselling, vocational training, and job placement services equip youth with essential skills, guidance, and confidence for sustainable employment opportunities. Personalized mentoring, hands-on training, and industry exposure enhance their career readiness. The rural setting provides an ideal space for camps, leadership activities, and practical agricultural training, promoting self-reliance and community-based development.
