August Activities - 2024
Independence Day Celebration: -
On August 15th, Independence Day celebrations were held in each street school with the support of the clubs where the schools are established. For many newly admitted children, this event marked their first experience of flag hoisting and the national anthem. All children, along with their parents and family members, were present to participate in the celebrations and witness the flag being hosted. The event fostered a sense of national pride and community spirit, creating memorable moments for everyone involved.
Rakhi Purnima Celebration: -
On August 19th, Rakhi Purnima was celebrated in the street schools, highlighting the significance of this festival, which symbolizes the bond of love and protection between siblings. Rakhis were tied by the children to establish a sense of unity and brotherhood, reinforcing the values of care and support within the community. The event was marked by the sharing of sweets, and all the children enjoyed the festivities, fostering a spirit of joy and togetherness among the children.

Uniform Distribution:-
On August-2024 school uniform distribution programme has been completed at 4 street schools as part of the project. School uniforms were distributed to all 185 children across six street schools as part of the project. Initially, many of the children attended school in casual or worn-out clothing, as their families were unable to afford proper attire due to financial hardship. Newly distributed blue uniforms, bearing the label "Don Bosco Ashalayam," were provided to ensure that all children attend school in proper attire each day, promoting a sense of unity, discipline, and belonging among the students. This initiative not only marked the children in the community as a student but also instilled a sense of pride and confidence in them, making them happy and enhancing their overall appearance.

School Bag Distribution: -
On August-2024 school bag distribution programme was completed at 4 street schools as part of the project. Many children previously lacked proper school bags and were using plastic bags to carry their books and learning materials, reflecting the economic challenges they face. The bags which were distributed each was labelled with "Don Bosco Ashalayam," and children were instructed to bring their bags daily to promote responsibility and organization in their learning. The distribution of these bags not only equipped the children with the necessary resources but also made them happy and cherished, enhancing their sense of ownership over their educational materials and improving their overall school experience.

Educational materials Distribution: -
On August-2024 Educational Materials distribution programme was successfully conducted in 4 street schools. In the beginning of the programme Project Coordinator and Club Secretary were present. The distribution took place during regular school hours to ensure full participation and minimal disruption to classroom activities. The children received the materials such as books, slate, colour pencil, note copy, drawing books etc. with great enthusiasm and joy. For many of them, these items were not just tools for learning but also a source of inspiration and motivation.

This initiative plays a vital role in addressing the educational needs of underprivileged children, ensuring that the lack of basic resources does not hinder their access to quality learning opportunities. It also reaffirms Don Bosco Ashalayam’s commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and equitable educational environment, where every child is empowered to learn, grow, and thrive regardless of their socio-economic background.
